This painting in named “Starry Night “by Vincent Van Gogh.
It is an oil on canvas painting. It was painted in June 1889. At the bottom of
the painting there seems to be houses, towards the middle there are some stars,
in the top right corner there is a moon, and to left of the painting it looks
like a castle or tower.
The artist does use the colors blue and yellow.
Vincent Van Gogh uses the repetition of blues and yellows. In
this painting he uses curved lines as well as straight lines. The color of the background
makes the star pop out more. The artist uses a lot of dark tones to capture the
viewers’ attention.
The artist is trying to express to us that he was feeling a
lot of depression and fear while he was painting this. This was painted to
symbolize his view from the asylum where he was at right before the sunset as
well as a little village.
My favorite part of the Starry Night is how he blended the
colors blue, white, and yellow giving an attractive look. The artist
communicates to us by the colors, rhythm, and the view. I really like this
painting. This is something that has always stood out to me.
